DEALING WITH CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR
Course aim :
This half day course provides an awareness of the types, causes and consequences of challenging behaviour, including the use of communication as a tool for reduction.
Learning outcomes :
- Identify types of behaviours that are challenging
- Identify examples of each behavioural type
- Recognise why individuals behave in challenging ways
- Recognise how behaviour can be misinterpreted
- Identify strategies to reduce challenging behaviour

- Effects of individuals and environment
- Behavioural symptoms of dementia
- Respecting personal boundaries
- Effective communication
- Reducing challenging behaviour
