Basic First Aid Awareness (Adults)
Course aim :
This half day course is designed to provide staff with the basic knowledge, skills and confidence to deal promptly & appropriately with emergencies until further aid arrives.
Learning outcomes :
- Understand first aid legislation
- Carry out an initial assessment of a casualty
- Carry out 'Hands Only CPR'
- Recognise & deal with a choking casualty
- Recognise & deal with person suffering a heart attack
- Recognise & deal with a person in shock
- Managing burns, bleeding, broken bones & sprains
- Recognise the need to keep themselves safe
Course content :
- Basic safety precautions
- Complying with legislation
- Coping with unconscious casualties (practical)
- Dealing with wounds & burns (theory)
- Causes & treatment of shock
- Heart attacks
- Choking
Course time :3 hours
